1. Open the installation CD or folder containing the Aladdin Run Time Environment drivers.
2. Double-click on the RTE_3_65.msi to start the install wizard. Continue through the prompts of the wizard, and click Finish when done. Please note: there are no configurable installation features.
3. Insert the eToken, and wait for Windows to acknowledge that it has found new hardware and that the hardware is ready for use (indicated by a pop-up balloon window near the system tray).

Changing the eToken PIN

Change the eToken PIN from the factory set default to a personalized one.

1. Insert the Aladdin eToken Pro into a USB slot, if not already inserted.
2. On the Windows taskbar, select and click Start -> All Programs -> eToken -> eToken Properties.
3. In the eToken Properties window, click on Change password.
4. Enter 1234567890 for the Current Token Password. This is the default PIN assigned by the manufacturer.
5. Enter a New Token Password into both fields and click OK. By default Aladdin has set minimum password quality requirements. A password is accepted when the password quality box changes from red to green or is equal 30% or greater. Clicking on Show Tips will show the criteria used to determine password quality requirements.
6. When successfully changed, a pop-up saying eToken password has been changed successfully will appear.
7. Close the eToken Properties window. The PIN is now personalized.

Creating a Key Pair on the eToken

Creating a key pair on the Aladdin eToken Pro with PGP Desktop 9.x.

1. Insert the Aladdin eToken Pro into a USB slot.
2. Click on the PGP padlock in the system tray, and select Open PGP Desktop.
3. In PGP Desktop, the Smart Card Keys should appear automatically under All Keys in the PGP Keys control box.
4. If Smart Card Keys does not appear, select Tools -> PGP Options -> Keys tab. On the Synchronize with smart card and tokens drop down selection, change it from automatically to from Aladdin. This is normally not necessary unless multiple smart card/token drivers from different manufacturers are installed. If Smart Card Keys still does not appear, uninstall the Aladdin drivers and repeat the steps in section one.
5. Click on the PGP padlock in the system tray, and select Open PGP Desktop.
6. In PGP Desktop, verify that Smart Card Keys appears under All Keys in the PGP Keys control box.
7. Select File on the menu, then New PGP Key.
8. In the PGP Key Generation Wizard window, check the box labeled Generate Key or Token: Aladdin Knowledge Systems LTD. eToken CardOS/M4, and click Next.
9. Enter a name for the key in the Full Name field.
10. Enter an email address in the Primary Email field. If you already have a key associated with an email address, and you do not wish to replace it in the PGP Global Directory, enter a different email or leave this field blank.
11. Click Next on the PGP Key Generation Window (and Yes if prompted because no email address was entered).
12. Enter the PIN of the eToken, and click OK. Generating the keypair on a token is slower than on the hard disk. It can take up to a minute to generate.
13. When the keypair generation has completed, click Next.
14. PGP Global Directory choices:
    A) If you have entered an email address you wish to use, click Next, wait for it to be uploaded, then click Next again, and then click Finish to exit and complete the wizard.
    B) If you have not entered an email address, or if you do not want to publish your email address to the PGP Global Directory, click Skip to exit and complete the wizard.

The newly created keypair will now be listed under Smart Card Keys (as well as All Keys and My Private Keys). When the eToken is removed from the system, the public portion of the key will remain in the All Keys list. Only when the eToken is inserted into a USB slot will the private portion be accessible.

The eToken is now ready for use. The PGP Key stored on your eToken can now be used for any PGP Desktop feature. This includes PGP Whole Disk Encryption when booting the hard drive containing a Windows XP operating system.
